LIFTOFF of SpaceX Crew Dragon! 5/30/2020

SpaceX and NASA made history today as they successfully launched astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley into space aboard the Crew Dragon capsule with the Falcon 9 rocket.

This is a huge moment for NASA, for SpaceX, and for the United States. It was exciting to watch the launch live and an incredible achievement for all involved in this historic launch. This is the first launch of humans into space by an American private company ever and the first launch from American soil in nine years — and it’s about time. As a bonus: The Falcon 9 rocket successfully landed on the drone ship for recovery. Everything went perfect today. I couldn’t be more proud of these teams.

The launch is occurring during a difficult time in America, as a pandemic has killed over 100,000 people, massive riots are burning cities over the death of a black man by a white cop, and an incompetent president ignores all of this by attacking social media companies. The country is deeply divided at this time, so it’s good to have something positive to focus on, if only for a short while.
