Spider-Man Swings, Jumps, and Flips into Avenger’s Campus 1/30/2020

From the Disney Parks Blog:

As we revealed at D23 Expo this past summer, Imagineers are hard at work to bring to life an amazing new experience with Spider-Man at Avengers Campus coming to Disney California Adventure park this summer!

Today I’m excited to share that guests visiting Disney California Adventure park in the near future may be able to catch a glimpse of the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man himself swinging above the rooftops of Avengers Campus.

The blog includes a video of Spidey leaping through the air. This is the animatronic stunt double Matthew Panzarino at TechCrunch reported on in 2018:

The Stuntronics robot features on-board accelerometer and gyroscope arrays supported by laser range finding. In its current form, it’s humanoid, taking on the size and shape of a performer that could easily be imagined clothed in the costume of, say, one of The Incredibles, or someone on the Marvel roster. The bot is able to be slung from the end of a wire to fly through the air, controlling its pose, rotation and center of mass to not only land aerial tricks correctly but to do them on target while holding heroic poses in midair.

In one of the very last segments of the Disney+ series The Imagineering Story, a Stuntronics robot is catapulted through the air while making some very familiar poses…

As a side note, I have a special post coming next week regarding Spider-Man that I’ve been working hard on, and I’m really excited to share it.
